My 2009 Plan

I went back to China this spring and spent 6 weeks visiting my professors and painting friends, studying and learning new techniques. Through my study, I realized the importance of introducing the correct name to the ancient Chinese painting style that I have mastered. The most accurate name is Chinese Brush Painting instead of Chinese Watercolor. Chinese Brush Painting is very different compared to the Western Watercolor. It uses different brushes, media, pigments and painting skills, even the finishing techniques and styles are so significantly different.

This year is a retreat year for me. My family and I are planning quite a few trips together to enjoy the nature and refresh our souls. I am posting a couple of my newest paintings which all have been inspired by our trips to China and Northwest United States. Painting Titles (from Left to Right, Top to Bottom)
-Mountains, Village, & Rice Fields;
-Sunrise.
This year, I also have reached a milestone. One of my paintings has been accepted by Portland Art Museum’s Rental Sales Gallery. Please see the attached imagine of this painting. As you can see, I used the “COLOR POURING” technique in this painting.
